OnePlus 6, the flagship smartphone from the Chinese hardware startup, has received its second Android P beta update. OnePlus had announced the Android P beta for OnePlus 6 alongside its launch last month. Now, the smartphone is getting second beta of Android P joining Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, the Essential Phone and the Sony Xperia XZ2.
The latest version of the Android P developer preview brings a number of new features. The update was first spotted on Baidu by XDA member flo071 and it was consequently announced on OnePlus’ Chinese forums as well. The changelog details the new features being introduced with this update and OnePlus 6 users will need to wipe their device in order to install this update.
The second Android P beta for OnePlus 6 brings all the enhancements that Google introduced with this version. But OnePlus 6 users also get some OxygenOS features on top of that. The most significant one is the support for Ambient display along with OnePlus’ system accent colors. Some OnePlus users reported that the company has removed the ambient display support with a new OxygenOS release.

The update also brings enhancement to face unlock mechanism, which uses front camera and software algorithm to instantly unlock your device. The update also adds option to create your own system accent colors. There is, of course, the ability to hide the notch and use full-screen gestures to navigate the interface.

Another new addition is Google Lens being integrated into the camera app. Asus and Motorola have also integrated Google Lens to the camera application. The update process is somewhat complicated and only those who have installed the first Android P beta should install on their device.
